What to do
Golf in Florida is brilliant - and the courses really are as good as they look on TV.
Within a 30 minute drive from Legacy Park there are more courses than you can shake a stick at with something for every standard of golfer.
A 2 minute drive brings you to Polo Park which is a par 3 course, ideal for beginners.
5 minutes away is a gem of a championship standard course called Highlands Reserve.
The rates (green fees) are very reasonable but change according to the time of year with the winter months being more expensive.
The rates also differ according to the time of day with the morning being more expensive than the afternoon.
Last September/October a round at Highlands Reserve after 1pm cost $27 per person - and a golf buggy was included in that !
The Golf Guide magazine and the local tourist maps (both free of charge) contain discount coupons for certain courses and the local golf equipment stores (Edwin Watts Golf) will also give you discount coupons if you purchase something from the store.
Dress rules are more relaxed than in UK but smart casual is expected - no swim shorts or jeans etc, etc.
Happy golfing !
